Cisco Spark Board brings user experience to the Next Level

How many times you take a picture of the whiteboard after your meeting? 3 months later do you remember who did what? the reasons behind each line? Maybe not right. So Cisco launched Spark Board, a 4K, all-in-one device that enables screen sharing, interactive whiteboarding and video conferencing. The Cisco Spark Board, which comes in 55- and 70-inch models use NVIDIA’s Jetson platform. This kicks in user experience to the next level on the Collaboration Suite.
On Spark board you can interact during your meetings using a whiteboard, save the notes, keep track of who did what on it. It will be easy now review a meeting recorded, where we have all the information interconnected.

Cybersecurity Scholarship is Now

I’ve applied for Cisco Cybersecurity Scholarship and i’m glad it was accepted, i understand people applied massively, but start in 16 months is not understandable! Cyber Security is now!Now! Now!

Now i just have to wait for the next message, hopefully with a close date, fingers crossed!

Juniper New SDN and Automation Track

Juniper updated their Certification Program with a new Track, SDN and Automation. A Specialist exam (JN0-410) is only available for now,  JNCIA is a pre-requirement, but the Professional level should be expected next year (2017). This exam covers SDN foundations, NFV, Contrail and OpenStack Platforms.

F5 came out with new platforms called BIG-IP iSeries with the following features/innovations:

  • TurboFlex optimization technology that offloads specialized functions from the general CPU
  • Due the complexity of SSL offloading and traffic growing exponentially due IoT, this new platforms have more capacity (TPS) than their previous versions, in some cases 2.5 times more

Cisco Champion 2017 is open

I was one of the fortunates to be Cisco Champion 2016, now i also applied to be 2017. I’ve been participating in the Cisco Communities, on social media and also write a few articles about Cisco Technologies.

Hybrid Cloud from VMware on Amazon (AWS)

VMware and Amazon bring a new partnership where VMware customers will be able to extend their private cloud on Amazon Datacenters around the World promoting a seamless integration and lifecycle operation bringing a Hybrid cloud environment.

This service will include all the enterprise tools you’re familiar with including vSphere, ESXi, VSAN and NSX. The hardware used by AWS is on heaven secrets but will be compliance with VMware requirements, to allow such integration. VMware with AWS will bring Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) stack to the AWS cloud, delivered as an on-demand, subscription-based, elastically scalable offering. Some interesting use cases are App development, Testing, Disaster Recovery, Geo Expansion, Burst capacity and Data Center Migration

VMware cloud will run on native ESX on next-generation, it manages and operates the infrastructure of the VMware Cloud on AWS providing the full lifecycle of the product being a Managed Service Provider for an instance. Virtualization administrators will have permissions on vCenter to perform administrative tasks.

At the moment AWS Cloud Global infrastructure operates 35 Availability Zones within 13 geographic Regions around the world, with 12 more Availability Zones and 5 more Regions coming online throughout the next year.

At the moment I’m writing this, it’s occurring the VMworld Europe in Barcelona until 20 of October 2016, give a look to the breakout sessions INF7849: VMware Cloud on AWS – a closer look and INF7711R: VMware Cloud on AWS. In this session VMware guys will dive a little deeper into the details of this service.

This service is expected to be available in the mid-2017 time-frame, VMware didn’t confirm if this will available in all AWS regions. Customers will be able to choose from on-demand (hourly) or subscription-based (1 year, 3 yea) options to consume this service. Customers will also be able to leverage their existing investments in VMware licenses.

Customers will have to call VMware team for infrastructure lifecycle management, support, billing and account management.

Juniper new Champion Program Design Track

Juniper launched the new Champion Program Design Track through the Innovative Level! This new track complements their existing program for Routing, Switching, Security, Enterprise, and Service Provider, featuring the same program policies and reward structure.

Current components of the track are available to achieve Aspiring and Innovative Champion levels; the Ingenious tier is planned for 2017 when the professional-level design certifications become available.

You can find the design track by logging into your Learning Academy account and navigating to the new offering in the “My Curriculum” section.

Cisco Global Cybersecurity Scholarship program

Due the gap of Cybersecurity skills, Cisco launched a Cybersecurity Scholarship program, it will invest $10 million in this program to increase the pool of talent with critical cybersecurity proficiency. Cisco also has enhanced its Security certification portfolio with a new CCNA Cyber Ops certification.

The scholarship program will get underway with assessment of candidates in August 2016. The first scholarship awards will be available later in 2016.

Scholarship Award Details

  • The self-paced e-learning path for this certification includes three courses and two exams, representing a significant monetary investment in your career:
    • “Introduction to Cybersecurity,” a Cisco Networking Academy course
    • “Understanding Cisco Cybersecurity Fundamentals” (SECFND), first course in the CCNA Cyber Ops curriculum
    • “Implementing Cisco Cybersecurity Operations” (SECOPS), second course in the CCNA Cyber Ops curriculum
    • Two accompanying CCNA Cyber Ops exams (210-250 SECFND and 210-255 SECOPS)
    • Mentoring and coaching for all three of the above courses
  • Cisco will deliver the program in partnership with key Cisco Authorized Learning Partners, which will provide the mentoring and coaching.
  • The cost of all training, mentoring and coaching, and exam fees good toward completion of a CCNA Cyber Ops certification is included in the scholarship.

Qualifications

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must meet these qualifications:

General:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be proficient in English

Basic technical competency (possess one or more of the following):

  • Cisco certification (Cisco CCENT certification or higher)
  • Relevant industry certification [(ISC)2, CompTIA Security+, EC-Council, GIAC, ISACA]
  • Cisco Networking Academy letter of completion (CCNA 1 and CCNA 2)
  • At least three years of combined experience in approved U.S. military job roles
  • Windows expertise: Microsoft (Microsoft Specialist, MCSA, MCSE), CompTIA (A+, Network+, Server+)
  • Linux expertise: CompTIA (Linux+), Linux Professional Institute (LPI) certification, Linux Foundation (LFCS, LFCE), Red Hat (RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA), Oracle Linux (OCA, OCP)

Candidate acknowledgment:

  • Planning a career in IT cybersecurity
  • Prepared to complete training in three months
